Independent trade union of the Ignalina NPP

Date of creation: 1992.
The independent trade union of the INPP (further - ITU INPP) got the status of federation in 1996, and included in its membership not only the nuclear power plant workers, but also town enterprises and establishments workers: in spheres of culture, public health services, kindergartens, schools, municipal services, etc, which are members of the ITU INPP as independent organizations and groups.
The ITU INPP is a member of the Federation of power engineering specialists in Lithuania, as well as the Center of trade unions in Lithuania (CTU) and International federation of trade unions of workers of chemical and mining industry, power engineering and odd-job men (ICEM).
The basic purpose of the ITU INPP:
Protection of economic, social and professional interests of the trade union members, irrespective of political and religious views.
Recently some new issues have been added to the aims of the trade union. The main one is protecting the interests of the workers in connection with making a decision about shutting down 1 power unit of the INPP, as well as re-structuring of the plant.
Form of government: a conference, the council and its government, the elected chairman.
A newsletter distributed among the members of the trade union is issued once a month.
A revision committee controls organizational and financial activity.
