Young ecologists’ club " Green future"
Date of creation: 1995.
Structure of the organization: 1 adult leader and 35 young people from 15 till 22 years old.
Type of the organization: non-governmental youth organization.
The basic purpose: propagation of ecological lifestyle among the population of all ages using public actions, publications in the press, town conferences.
Activity:
- Annual holding of a traditional Day of the Earth in Visaginas, attracting youth and the town community to its actions;
- Regular holding of ecological actions - "We will clean the planet of garbage", "How to make garbage useful";
- holding ecological landing operations (30 landing operations have been held); holding conferences and seminars on ecological subjects;
- Trips to industrial enterprises, game and forest reserves, etc.
The club works under the international projects "A Pine needle" (analysis of air quality), "HARBOUR TOUR 2000" (youth sea rush to attract attention to the problems of the Baltic Sea). The members of club have taken part in 5 international conferences, they are the winners of state youth competitions on research works.
The club "Green future" is an unassociated member of the international ecological organization. It conducts constant correspondence with other (foreign) ecological organizations.
The members of the club study at the school of ecological education and upbringing on the basis of a scientific station of Vilnius University in Tilzhe.
