Visaginas scout organization
Date of creation: July 1992. The structure of the organization: 6 adult leaders and 70 children from 7 till 18 years old. The type of the organization: children's international non-political non-governmental organization.
Purposes and tasks:
- Bringing up children in the spirit of nobleness and chivalry by using game forms;
- Training children to survive in extreme conditions;
- Developing tolerance to strange things; revealing creative abilities in informal situations;
- Relations with children of the same age from other countries.
Activity:
- Organizing camps with special programs during summer, autumn, winter and spring school holidays (53 camps, both in Lithuania, and abroad);
- Organizing international festivals of author's songs "Skvorechnik" to attract children and youth to author's songs, poetry and playing the guitar (1998,1999,2000,2001);
- Representing Lithuania on international Jamboree in England (1996), Germany (1998), Russia (1999, 2000), Poland (2000);
- Purposeful help to old men and invalids, to the Children's home in Zarasai, and war veterans;
- Taking care of common graves in Zarasai, the German military cemetery in Tilzhe, separate soldiers' graves outside the town;
- Teaching children about tourist practice, providing first aid, life on nature, games;
- Helping to organize hikes for schoolchildren and children from kindergartens;
- Participating in various town activities.
Financial support: all leaders, except for one, work as volunteers. We seldom receive individual sponsor's help, and we write projects for camps and festivals of bard songs to Visaginas government. The local government helps us always. In 1998 we took part in the projects competition of the Ministry of education on preventing criminality.
