Visaginas branch of the Third Age University
The Third Age University (TAU) was founded in Lithuania in June 2, 1985. Visaginas branch was founded in May 8, 2000. The activity of this university around Lithuania is organized on the basis of self-government.
- TAU is an independent, voluntary public organization, which activity provides the best social integration of the senior age people into society by inducing them to lead a productive and substantial life, supporting their capacity for work, raising the level of knowledge and culture, assisting to exchange experience, and consolidating health.
- TAU is an organization of informal training. The organization promotes dialogue between generations, supports partner communications with youth organizations, takes part in various projects.
- The following departments are available in Visaginas branch of TAU: the department of man’s improvement, the department of the history of culture, the department of languages, the medical department, the department of ichthyology, the department of regional study and tourism, the department of physical culture, the department of law, the department of religion, the department of flower-growing and gardening. There is also a choir and a studio of plastic dance.
- The list of faculties is corrected every year.
- All interested people can enter the university - from those having an elementary education up to scientists, people of art, public figures. It is necessary only to fill in the questionnaire, to choose the department and to study without any restrictions at one or several departments. A person can study as long as he or she wants. All students get certificates. The academic year begins on October 1.
