Public council for Visaginas development
The Public council for Visaginas development (PÑVD), an informal coalition of non-governmental town organizations, was founded in 2001 by the leaders of 22 public organizations in Visaginas and trade unions at the Ignalina NPP. PCVD is a voluntary association of non-governmental organizations and individual citizens who recognize rights security and understand the necessity of participation in deciding the issues of Visaginas development.
The form of governing: a general meeting of the members, administration, and the elected principal.
The basic purposes of PCVD: - coordination of social partners' team work on the town development issues; - ensuring control on the part of the community over the execution efficiency of the decisions and programs connected to the town development; - consolidation of efforts directed to the town transition to a mode of sustainable development; - raising civil activity of the town inhabitants in deciding the issues of Visaginas development.
The main task: control and coordination of actions connected to the town development on the part of the community.
